November - December 2020

November was the month of healing and family visits. Poppy and Grammy were on a prolonged stay during my recovery from surgery since I was non-weight bearing and on crutches. It is amazing how little you can do when you are non-weight bearing. We are so thankful for their help. The kids had a great time hanging out with them and they were instrumental in helping in the day to day routine. We celebrated Thanksgiving early and were able to celebrate with Aimee, Israel, and Tessa. It was nice having everyone together.

Later in the month, the Thomas family came to visit for Thanksgiving break, celebrate a very special birthday (Jay turned 40!), and help me finish out my non-weight bearing time on crutches. Nana and Grandpa got the girls hoverboards for their birthday so they had fun trying out this new activity. The kids also enjoyed the extra love and attention from the grandparents. We enjoyed a wonderfully delicious Thanksgiving meal and a great day to follow of Jay's famous smoked brisket.

December was a quiet month since COVID kept us away from any gatherings and I was still recovering from my surgery. We made the best of it and had lots of great time together and Aubrey got an early Christmas present in the beginning of December - a puppy! Her name is Harley and she is a maltipoo. She is the sweetest dog in the world. I'm working hard on training her so that she will be well behaved for years to come! She is a great addition to the family and the girls are absolutely in love (the girls includes me too!).

The girls finished their fall semester of 3rd grade and it has been a great year so far. The kids are so happy to be in school. Wearing a mask is definitely a downer for them, but they are so happy to have some normalcy and be with their friends. They have the most amazing teachers and we are so thankful for all they are doing during this really different times.  School ended on December 18 so it was a perfect ending to the school year to keep our tradition of celebrating Gramma's birthday with building gingerbread houses. The girls love this activity and memory. It is always a special time where I know Gramma is smiling down from heaven.

We brought in the New Year with Nana and Grandpa and celebrated Christmas as well. Another fun visit in the books.

That's a wrap to 2020. Never would we have imagined it as living through a pandemic and two major knee surgeries but we trust in God's plans and provision. Here is to giving God all the glory in 2021.
