May - June 2021

May is always a busy month as all the after school activities and school comes to an end. The excitement and energy is high and the momma is tired! Jay traveled out of town to Louisiana for 2 weeks in early May so the girls and I had a lot of one-on-one time together. Before Jay headed out of town, we celebrated Mother's day which was so special and fun. We did our traditional picnic, played at the park, played at the pool with friends, and baked a checkerboard cake together. It was a perfect day. We had a second Mother's day which we enjoyed getting pictures before and at church and a day at the pool (and of course Gringos for dinner, because this momma isn't cooking! LOL).

We attended our first quinceanera for our neighbors and had a great time. It was our first time getting dressed up to go out, meet with more than another family, and be inside without masks! It is amazing how much we used to take for granted! The girls were the most beautiful princesses I ever did see. Jay was as handsome as ever. Aubrey is already asking me what her party looks like when she turns 15 or 16!

Jay and I are trying to keep up with date days with the kids individually. This month Avery and I enjoyed the day together. We grabbed lunch, picked up a painting with a twist canvas design, and baked cookies. Jay and Aubrey went downtown for lunch, escaped a virtual escape room, played video games, and we all joined back together for Gringos and jumping in a bounce house (let me clarify, the kids jumped in a bounce house!). It was a perfect day for all four of us.

The girls graduated in American Heritage Girls from Tenderhearts to Explorers. They had a great year and earned multiple badges. They are looking forward to being with the older girls and most of all the 2 day camping trip! Aubrey worked hard all semester on her theater production: Descendents. She was the Royal Paige and Wendy. She did an excellent job with her lines, songs, and dances. We were so proud of her.

We took a family vacation to Raleigh, Boone, and Blowing Rock NC. We visited our friends Liz, Ron, Kate and Ellie in Raleigh and had a great time playing, swimming, hiking, scrapbooking, sleeeping in a tent and so much more. I'm so thankful our families will grow up together. The four of us then ventured to Boone and Blowing Rock and it was beautiful. We love the mountains and I was so happy that I could hike, my favorite hobby. We had so much fun exploring new trails, seeing the beautiful scenery, trying lots of new food places, and just spending time together. It was a great week.

We had a great Father's day weekend. Jay got to do all the things he requested. We hung out at Vallenson's Brewery the night before with friends. On Sunday we went to church, then spent time opening presents and the kids spoiled daddy with love, then we went to a huge video arcade place that had over 100 arcade games. We was a fun way to spend the day. We finished it off with trying a new place for dinner which was really delicious. Before the night was over we learned two new board games. All in all, it was perfect.
